Guinea winger Ibrahima Traore has backed coach Michel Dussuyer to remain in charge, despite their early Africa Cup of Nations exit.

The West African nation failed to progress past the group stages in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, losing 1-0 to Mali, drawing 1-1 with Ghana and thrashing Botswana 6-1 for a total of four points in Group D.

But despite the underwhelming exit, Traore said Dussuyer deserved to keep his spot leading the national side.

"There is nothing more to change in this team," Traore told Cafonline.

"Offensively and defensively we showed we are a good team with talented players. However, a bit of inexperience cost us in this competition because some of us were playing it for the first time."

"When he (Dussuyer) came, there was no team in the country and we were the underdogs against Nigeria (in the final qualifier in Abuja), but he assured us that we will qualify for this Nations Cup."

"And after a year with the team, we are now a better team with him."
