Former Juventus boss Marcello Lippi believes that the club are on the cusp of a new era of dominance.

Former Juventus boss Marcello Lippi believes that the club are on the cusp of a new era of dominance.

After successive seventh-placed finishes, Juve are currently flying high at the top of Serie A under new coach Antonio Conte, who arrived in Turin last summer.

Juve have taken a while to recover from the match-fixing scandal which resulted in them being relegated to Serie B, but Lippi feels that they are now poised to re-establish themselves as the most powerful force in Italy.

"Juventus will open a cycle because this team is only going to get better from here on," he told Tuttosport.

"The new stadium has added a sense of pride, while Conte has given organisation and sense of belonging back to the club."

Lippi coached Juve during two separate spells in 1994-99 and 2001-04, during which he led the club to five Serie A titles.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina midfielder Valon Behrami has revealed why he turned down the chance to join Juventus in the January transfer window.

The Switzerland international was linked with a move to the Turin giants last month, but a move eventually never materialised as Juve opted for Simone Padoin from Atalanta.

"Leaving Fiorentina for Juventus would have been betrayal. The club knew pefectly well how I felt about a move," Behrami told Corriere Fiorentino.

"Fiorentina is the right club for me. I have already said it before, and I'll say it again: I want to stay at this club for a long time."

The 26-year-old joined Fiorentina from West Ham United in January 2011, and has a contract with club until mid-2014.
