Toe problem sets Chivu back

Inter Milan's Cristian Chivu faces a spell on the sidelines after injuring a toe in Thursday's 3-0 Europa League qualifier win over Hajduk Split.

The Romanian defender featured from the outset in Inter's victory, but was forced to stay behind in the dressing room at half-time due to the problem.

Chivu underwent further examinations on Friday to determine the extent of the knock, and Inter have announced that the 31-year-old has dislocated the second toe on his right foot.

It is not known exactly how long the centre-back will be out of action, but Chivu is now considered a doubt for the second leg of his side's European qualifier on Thursday.

Chivu recently signed a contract extension with Inter that keeps him their until the end of the 2014/15 session.
