MADRID (AFP) - Barcelona warned Friday that it would not sell its Brazilian striker Ronaldinho, who has been deemed surplus by the Spanish side's new coach Pep Guardiola, at a discount.
"Ronaldinho is a player of great value and we will only sell if we get a proper price. If we don't get it, he won't go," Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano told a news conference.
Ronaldinho, who has two years left on his contract, has been linked to a move to AC Milan and Manchester City since Guardiola declared him surplus along with Samuel Eto'o and Deco following the 28-year-old's disappointing, injury-prone season.
Sports daily Marca reported Friday that the 40 million euros (63 million dollars) demanded by Barcelona for an out of shape Ronaldinho had put off potential buyers like Chelsea and AC Milan.
Catalan sports daily Sport meanwhile said AC Milan is interested in signing the 2005 FIFA world player of the year but at a "reasonable" price below 20 million euros.
Only the Premier League's Manchester City appears to be interested in the player at the moment, but Marca said the player wants to go to a more prestigious club.

What will Milan need him for? They have already one Gordo. Unless they are planning to go in Sumo.BesTalentScout July 5th, 2008 07:08
he's still too young to go to Milan, both parties should wait till he's 35.........the official Milan entry age...LOLGiorgio July 5th, 2008 09:22
Ajax and TalentScout,I must say that, once in a while, I agree with you and this is one of those instances.
Buck Teeth is too fat and not in great shape, although, in all fairness, he's only 28, so he should have a couple of good years left in him. The question is: does he have the desire and motivation to train hard again and get back to the top again ? Maybe not !! And if I was the president of AC MIlan, I wouldn't risk spending so much money on a player like him. Maybe we'll never see his best again !!!!

Giorgio, I agree, but if Ronaldinho is not like Maradona or Ronaldo (the Brazilian), he may turn out to be a good deal. Besides, AC Milan can always buy him with a conditional contract. If you know what I mean.soccerwinner July 5th, 2008 17:00
Ronaldinho will outshine when he had been treated well. I have faith in him.rawadkhalil July 5th, 2008 20:28
ronaldinho should go to a team where they depend more on team play and passing not speed...he doesnt have that in him anymore.he could do great at arsenal.

Barca may regret not selling him now in the future.............they might have to make a bundle deal.............buy Eto'o and get Ronaldinho at 50% off........LOL
