LONDON, BOLTON, Sep 23 (Sw) - One of the agents at the centre of the scandal stirred by the BBC programme Panorama, Peter Harrison, admitted yesterday that he lied on camera for public attention. In the Tuesday broadcast Harrison implicated Bolton Manager Sam Allardyce in receiving pay-offs for player deals.

Both Allardyce and his son, agent Craig Allardyce, denied all implications and on Wednesday have announced legal steps. The charges are under investigation by the FA and the Premiership.

Harrison told to Sky Sports News that he has "told lies."

"I did it to inflate my ego, make me look bigger because this guy was dangling £1.8 million to buy my business and you know sometimes you say things to make you look bigger and better than you are," he said

"But I certainly wasn't telling the truth there and I have never given Sam Allardyce any money and he has never asked for any money and there would be no reason why he would ask for any money.

"Never in my life have I given Sam Allardyce a bung, I've never given any manager a bung.

Meanwhile, the FA investigation has led to Leyton Orient chairman Karl Oyston and agent John Holmes, with the first saying he was offered payment while the latter was asked whether he was willing to pay some.
